Vista Operating Systems Problems
OR Winning the War with Vista:
The main issue is the User Account Control. The
AcornPipe program install is able to run on the Vista operating system, as
long as you are willing to turn off the User Accounts Control.
Here is a link to a new Vista Install which should
register the files automatically. This is still in a Beta Test, but I am
confident this will be fine, as long as you have turned off the Accounts
Control as instructed in the following Q and A.
Click here to download the zipped Vista Install for AcornPipe.
Q.
My computer has the
Vista Operating System
installed. I have received errors when trying to run AcornPipe Software.
A.
Turning off the Windows Vista User Accounts Control
will stop the program from giving error messages. This does however make
your computer a little less secure, so be aware of this before you decide
to turn off the Accounts Control.

download/view a document featuring various methods of turning off the
Accounts Control on your computer.
Q. On my Vista
operating system, my AcornPipe program seems to
have failed to register the program's .dll and .ocx files. How do I register
these files?
A. The
easiest way is to download these files which will do the registration for you.
Register files on C:\Windows\System32 folder:
Click
here to download a zipped executable file.
Then double click to run this file which will register the files.
You should receive a message that the files are registered successfully.
Restart your computer following the install.
Q.
Missing Dependency File
-
compresszlt.ocx
:
I cannot seem to install and run the AcornPipe software on my computer. (or
server)
I receive an error message regarding a file named compresszlt.ocx and
a missing dependency file named msvbvm50.dll.
A.
It appears that the program file, compresszlt.ocx has missing
dependency files in the C:\Windows\System folder in Windows 95/98/Me on a
few computers, and the problem rears it's head again in Windows Vista.
This missing dependency file also occurs on some NT versions and may require
the missing file be installed to the C:\Windows\System32 directory.
The file msvbvm50.dll is not present in the windows' system folder.
You can download this file by
clicking here.
Unzip the downloaded file and then copy the msvbvm50.dll into the
C:\Windows\System or the C:\Windows\System32 directory, as the case
may be.
Your AcornPipe program should now install and run properly after these
files are added.
