Public/AcornPipe Network Update 8-349.zip
Our programmers have made the following changes in version 8.349:
Version 8.338 had the problem where "13/16" gets inserted into miscellaneous item descriptions in place of the carriage return. This has been fixed in version 8.349.
Logging of barcode updating has been improved. Sometimes the
messages suggested the wrong job had been updated, although this was
not actually the case.
Note that job numbers must be unique - don't try to use the same job
number for two different clients!
**Added a Menu Item "Hide all item tags".
**If you choose Installation Drawings and then immediately import an
IDF file, item tags and dimensions are hidden by default.
You can show them by selecting Dimension/Show All
Dimensions and Dimension/Show Item Tags.
**Menu item "IDF Adjustment", with hot key Ctrl-J.
This brings up a small version of the Item Information window, with
all the same functionality.
The full version of this window is still accessible via
Shift-F11.
You can then use the keyboard to skip through the items and select
items without having to use item tags.
It is easier to select a lot of contiguous items this way.
**If you have just imported an IDF file, you can use this window to
indicate how pipes should be stretched or shrunk. Then press Enter
to re-import with the new pipe lengths. You can do this any number
of times, so you can build on the improvements you make.
**Improved North arrow change response when importing IDF files.
**Slightly larger dimension text.
Earlier updates are included in
this update and include:
Improvements in IDF import.
Improvements to the database append sequence for item reference file
(UserCodes.dbf), item file, and status file.
This version now imports all the IDF files received from TRC. New
items added include 3-way valve (V3FL),
This release
also contains a new way to select items, as per the downloadable
document.
A New Way to Select Items in AcornPipe
Under Edit/Weld Tags, there is now a field for Welder2, in case two
welders work on the same weld. The Welder2 information appears in
the weld report.
Bug: In some circumstances, if you saved a drawing and then printed
it immediately without reloading, the BOM and title block was
omitted from the print. This has been fixed.
When you select items using "Select All Connected Items", you can
now reposition the items immediately, without having to press F11
first.
During drawing you may be asked to choose a wall thickness (because
it's not in the spec), and then you are asked if you want to add it
to the spec. If you respond Yes, it now actually does get added to
the spec, so it won't ask you for it again.

Changes to pervious versions
below, are included in all future updates.
*Changed status update
using barcode data so that an existing date is not overwritten by Videx data.
*The update also reports any missing jobs, missing field names, and
missing control numbers.
*Date fields in the Status window now accept the shortcut key "D"
for "does not apply".
*IDF import now supports Strainer as per 66798.idf
*Occasionally on an IDF import, it is hard to move a dimension, if
it is very short and happens to be over a reducer, because the
program thinks you are trying to add a branch instead. You can now
force the desired behaviour by holding down the control key when
clicking on the dimension.
*When moving short dimensions, it is easy to accidentally click on
the central part of the dimension, as if you wanted to change its
value. The dimension dialog now has a "Leave as is" button to allow
easier escape from this situation.
The dialog that shows whether any existing drawings use the same
spool number as the one being saved, now lists only the first five
such drawings, plus "and more... total of xx". This avoids the
dialog getting too large when a lot of drawings share the same spool
number.
*On IDF imports, if the spec does not specify a material group,
group A, carbon steel, is assumed. The group can still be changed
later, even after the file is saved.
*On IDF imports, bolt sets are now ignored for drawing count
purposes. They are still imported the same as before.
*When the first elbow of a given itemcode drawn for a new client
happened to be odd angled, it was rounded to 45 or 90. This happened
only the first time it was drawn, so the error was hard to
reproduce.
This has been fixed in version 8-320.
Other recent changes:
IDF import now first searches for
fitting rating info in the IDF file. If it cannot get the fitting
rating from the IDF file, AcornPipe uses the fitting rating from
the spec.
When
saving installation drawings, the ShopNo is also saved and included
in the InstItems file. The ShopNo is the control number of the fab
spool that includes that item.
A typical ShopNo might be "00001A", "00001B" etc. Items in the
InstItems file that do not have any ShopNo are assumed to be field
material and are included in material summaries made by installation
material control.
Items with a ShopNo are excluded, as they are shop material.
Click on the link to download - a file called
Reports/Insert for Material Summary.txt
If you copy this file to the AcornPipe program folder and then run a
Material Summary, the text in the file will be inserted into the
summary. The user can edit this file as required.
**Recently
Added Help/Folder
Access Test to help detect when permissions are insufficient.
Explicitly unselect everything after a save or resave, because
sometimes under Vista everything remains selected, so the user has
to press ESC.
Fix problem with trying to open a drawing when none is present.
More enhancements to IDF file import, end images for valves.
Increased width of SPOOLNO field in Status, WeldSummary, and
WeldReport files, when they are created.
Format of revision number in Status File changed back to one digit where possible.
On File/Open Existing Drawing dialog, text box showing control number is selected so that a new control number can be typed in immediately.
**Several enhancements to IDF import.
Include Tangent length when calculating bend weights.
Put spooler's name on spec printout.
When creating an item report, if the item database index is missing, AcornPipe will re-index the database.
Several changes focused on improving performance over a network, and on handling conflicts between users.
Writes to the Item file use seeks rather than relations.
Use a faster method to fill the file list box in the File/Open and File/Make New List dialogs.
These dialogs are now also re-sizeable.
The File/Open dialog detects when things are slow and in that case displays only the first 1000 files initially, so you can type in the desired control number instead of picking from a cast of thousands. You can also choose to display only files starting with same first three characters as the currently loaded drawing. An effort is also made to keep the most pertinent part of the list visible, to make it quicker to pick drawings with a nearby control number.
Error handling was made easier, to head off conflicts when two users want to read/write the same drawing simultaneously.
