The handling of UserCodes.dbf has been enhanced as follows:
If the index file, UserCodes.cdx, is absent, a new
index file is created when UserCodes.dbf is opened.
If there are any blank or duplicate records in
UserCodes.dbf, you can remove them by accessing 'Status' and then choosing
Tools/Reference - Pricing/Items.
When the User Codes form is displayed, if there are any unwanted records, you
can mark them for deletion by using Tools/Mark for Deletion, or by using the
Ctrl-X shortcut key.
The word DELETE then appears in the Client Code column. If you change your mind,
remove the word DELETE before leaving the form.
Previous Changes:
(included in the newer versions as well)
Fixed bug in Edit BOM form, which prevented you from entering a new User Code if
you had changed a Material or Wall thickness in the same session.
Respond better to "Should this item be WELDED?" when entering miscellaneous
items.
*Add "Held" field to Inventory view. This tallies items placed on hold by
entering HOLD in the Receiving Report in place of the heat number, PMI number,
or MTR number.
Such items are regarded as not yet fully received, so they are not included in
the Received quantity.
Omit unnecessary message about creating MiscItems.dbf.
**This version also
checks spool numbers with other drawings to see if the number has already been
used on a previous control number. This happens when you save a drawing.
AcornPipe will display a warning if the same Spool number has been used on any
another drawings, and will allow this if you want to continue.
Normally Spool numbers are only used on a single drawing.

Flared Ends as a capability in AcornPipe Software:
Click here to download a zipped file containing 8 master
files.
Click here to download the auto install file to add the
Flared ends to your Master Files.
**The user will be asked if existing files in the
Master File Folder should be overwritten.
Support for Flared Ends:
Files in this install are: NDmaster.ac2, MSMaster.ac2, MKmaster.ac2,
IFmaster.ac2, IFImages.ac2, IFB.AC3, FlaredEnds.ac2, EPmaster.ac2
Allows for drawing flared ends with or without flanges, and include a flare
allowance in the cut length.
From version 8.296 (included in the newer versions as well)
Speeding up the
process - Networking AcornPipe:
We had received a complaint or two that
AcornPipe was being slow to load files when our AcornPipe customers had multiple
users on the network, yet the program user knew it to be was very fast when he
used it on a single computer.
We did some testing using a small network, and discovered that here was quite a
bit of interference, and it became clear that the files were getting in each
other's way when updating the reference file.
Changes to the program mean that the resulting code runs much faster, and there
does not seem to be any noticeable interference between users.
** During testing, using an unusually large drawing (120 items) the load time
drops from 6 seconds to 3 seconds across the network. But the biggest gain is
the fact that two people loading at the same time increases the load time by
only about a second. And of course most drawings don't have 120 items.
**Note that the reference file is also updated when you press Ctrl-E to edit the
BOM, so that process is speeded up also. You might not notice it on a smallish
drawing on a standalone machine, but this is very noticeable accross a network.
Previous Changes
(Version
8.295:) included with the newest update:
*Some file access modes were changed to improve speed.
*Add DiaInch to WeldFile and WeldReport File and hence to
the weld report.
*Recalc diameter inches when displaying weld info
*Fix an issue that affected printer line-spacing on some title-blocks.
*Save default Extra Drawing Information separately for each drafter as well as
for each job.
*Allow up to 21 Extra Drawing entries.
*Limit the drafter's name to three characters.
*Don't allow editing of User Codes in the Edit Bill of Materials form until any
edits to materials and/or walls have been accepted by pressing OK.
*At bottom of 'Save As' form, displays current drafter's name and also 'drawn by'
name for current drawing.
*Modified spacing when printing Master Files, to avoid truncating descriptions.
Previous Changes included ( Version 8.294:)
with the newest update:
*This version includes a printer driver update with a fix for 11 x 17 paper size on Canon ImageRunner printers.
*It also adds a new Status choice, I-issued/hold which covers a situation where a
spool is placed on hold after it has been issued for fabrication.
*After drawing an elbow, Version 8.294 AcornPipe recalculates the fitting
dimensions based on the elbow angle. This covers a situation where someone
starts to draw a 45 elbow but then edits the vector components in such a way as
to end up with a rolled 90 instead.
*IDF file import now supports threaded elbowlets
Previous Changes are always included with the newest update:
*Allows Flared Ends with backing flanges to be added for particular
companies using AcornPipe Software.
*A new Fitting Font File which have the Backup Flanges added plus the RTJ Orifice
Flanges.
*Some new Master files for new issue. You will be asked to overwrite the existing
master files. Unless you have made changes to the current master files of the
same name, you should select "yes" when asked.
*The latest version has an option near the bottom of Tools to write a File for
each piece of pipe with the end prep and location of all holes for Olets, etc.
We found it is also putting the location of Shoes yesterday which we have to fix
but you can try it and it may help your cutter.
*You use F11 to select one Pipe before selecting the option. AcornPipe will write a
file with the Size, Material, control number and Item tag in your Program
Folder/AcornPipe folder. You could then move the files to a memory stick or
possibly print them to help the cutter. This should eliminate the cutter needing
to calculate the hole locations from the End-of-Pipe.
The latest version will
calculate 3-D co-ordinates for all points on the drawing so that Vernon cutting
files can be generated.
*When blank Extra Drawing
info fields are filled in automatically, show them in blue text and allow the
blue text to be discarded by pressing Cancel.
*Handle the lack of end
image when start end type of a pipe is chosen as "nothing".
* Allow for a greater number of
possible intersections when moving large numbers of open-ended parallel pipes.
New in Version 8.277:
IDF-related changes in Installation Drawings:
1/ Recognize bends in IDF files, and handle strainer as a special kind of Tee.
2/ Support importing of lap-joint flanges from IDF files.
3/ When importing IDF files, scan for and deal with up front attachments to the
dimpoints of elbows and tees.
4/ Deal with piping loops in IDF files.
5/ Recognize code RAFL as another kind of angled relief valve.
Changes re: Splitting into Spools:
5/ When splitting installation drawings into spools, make each lap-joint flange
go with the associated stub end.
6/ When splitting installation drawings into spools, re-count bent pipe systems
as each spool drawings will usually not have as many bent pipe systems as the
installation drawings.
Support for Flared Ends:
7/ Allow for drawing flared ends with or without flanges, and include a flare
allowance in the cut length.
(User should request file FlaredEnds.ac2 if he wants to include flare allowances
in cut lengths.)
Other:
8/ Allow changes to branch size of reducing tee, even long after it was
drawn. You get to choose any BW size as long as it is smaller than the header.
9/ Allow for miscellaneous dimensions between dimpoints on two separate items.
10/ Add option to print cut sheets in inches and decimals as an alternative
to feet/inches/fractions.
New in Version 8.271:
1/ This update adds
a log file called Loading Times.txt in the program folder. It starts over if it
reaches about 1 MB size.
The purpose of this file is to help troubleshoot occasional slow loading on
large networks.
2/
This one also fixes
the error where drawing bends could, in certain rare circumstances, affect the
dimensions of elbows drawn subsequently in the same session. We also add a
tool "Confirm Elbow/Bend dimensions" which repairs a drawing that suffers from
this problem.
3/
This one also imports Angled Blocks (usually Relief Valves) in odd directions
from IDF files. Essentially it treats it as a special kind of valve, with some
of the characteristics of an elbow.
New:
Register the .dll files to enable the mouse wheel in reports.
Some operating system will require the registration of dll files in the Windows
System folder.
For more information on registering files - check out the info on our FAQs page at the bottom of
this
page.
Installation
Drawings: you can now split a
pipe into two pieces and if one side
is dimensioned the other piece will calculate automatically. Two pipe sections
can also be combined into one piece.
**On Installation drawings the user can now select the amount of trim to be used
when splitting up drawings into spools. At break points which include trim the
amount will be added to the Spool dimension automatically as it breaks. It will
also make it a Plain End and put a note with the trim amount on the end.
If you say "Yes" it puts a different symbol.
When the Iso is separated into spools AcornPipe will automatically add a trim
length to the pipe on that spool and put a plain end on it.
For the field labor on the installation Iso, AcornPipe will then count a Field
Cut and a Field Bevel on the pipe at that point.
There will be a setting in the Installation drawing options where you can pick
the amount of Trim you want to use. This amount will be added to the Fabrication
drawing only.
I assume that after installation you may update the Installation dimension
with the Centre to Centre length you actually end up with. There shouldn't be any
need to update the Spool drawing as it shows what you have actually
fabricated.
Our programmers have added a menu on the
reports form to load all records into Excel
automatically.
NEW:
Our customers have asked to have all of
the Standard Details in a printable format. We have created a PDF file of all of
the details.
